A lot has been written in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry being hit as a result of the smoking ban in the United Kingdom. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for massive tax breaks to help keep the industry alive. However can the web adaptation of this traditional game present a lifeline, or will it in no way compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo has been an established game generally played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had witnessed a recent increase in acceptance with younger people deciding to go to the bingo parlours instead of the discos on a Friday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the anti cigarette law across England and Wales.

Players will no longer be allowed to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public location will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favored areas where many people enjoy smoking.

The effects of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already banned in the bingo parlors. Numbers have dropped and the industry is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Certainly they have not abandoned this familiar game?
