An abundance has been stated in the press not long ago about the bingo industry struggling because of the cigarette ban in the UK. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big aid to help keep the businesses afloat. But will the internet variation of this traditional game present a reprieve, or will it never compare to its real life relative?

Bingo has been an enduring game generally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had seen a recent return in acceptance with younger men and women deciding to visit the bingo parlors rather than the discos on a Friday night. All this is about to be reversed with the introduction of the anti smoking law across UK.

Players will no longer be permitted to smoke at the same time marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 every public place will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most favored areas where players enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already not allowed in the bingo parlours. Players have dropped and the business is literally fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Of course they haven’t forgotten this classic game?

The answer is on the internet. People realize that they can participate in bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and cigarette and in the end, enjoy huge jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself just about perfectly with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on on the net can never replace the communal portion of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of people the law has left a number of bingo players with little alternative.
