Bingo and Oklahoma: Two Peas in a Pod
Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That’s because the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for decades. Clients from many of the surrounding states load up in autos and travel into Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) was introduced after a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. Since that instance, twenty three of the 39 Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have established gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Indian band to take advantage of the gaming laws, and at this time operate 10 gambling dens of their own. In the past few years, Oklahoma governing edicts have changed to allow for gigantic American Indian gaming gambling dens.
