An abundance has been talked in the press not long ago about the bingo industry struggling because of the cigarette ban in England. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big tax breaks to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. But will the net adaptation of this traditional game offer a reprieve, or might it in no way compare to its real life relative?

Bingo is an established game historically played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had seen a recent return in popularity with younger members of society opting to visit the bingo parlours in place of the bars on a Saturday night. All this is about to be reversed with the enforcement of the cigarette ban throughout UK.

Players will no longer be allowed to puff on cigarettes whilst marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public locations will not be permitted to allow smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most favored areas where many people like to smoke.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already not permitted in the bingo parlours. Players have plunged and the business is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not deserted this enduring game?

The answer is online. Gamblers are now realizing that they can participate in bingo in front of their computer while enjoying a beverage and cigarette and still enjoy massive cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course playing on the net is unlikely to replace the communal aspect of heading down to the bingo hall, but for a group of players the governing edicts have left a lot of bingo players with no choice.
