State Bingo

[ English ]

Bingo is ruler in Georgia. Georgia is where Bingo all began in The United States, back in Nineteen Twenty Nine. But during the years immediately after Bingo showed up (from Italy) at a fair in Georgia, the game was made illegal together with most other types of betting.

In 1976, Bingo was made legal for not for profit businesses. Since Bingo is one of only three types of gambling not illegal in Georgia (along with raffles and the state lottery), the game has turn out to be a big crowd pleaser.

You can find above Two hundred bingo providers in Georgia today. Georgians grossed over $35,000,000 in revenues for its Bingo providers in 2005, for an average of about $130,000 per operation. Georgians won over 20,000,000 dollars in cash during the same period. Georgian charities saw $1,500,000 in cash from the Bingo industry.

Georgia has a number of of the toughest bingo laws inside the U.S. Operators are constrained in the number of cash prizes they can pay out at any 1 time. Games can hand out prizes with a $1,500 per session and three thousand dollars per week, which is far lower than the restrictions in certain other states.

The GBI: Bingo Unit regulates bingo games inside the state. Within the last Twenty five years, close to Fifty businesses have lost their license in Georgia for recurring violations of the local betting laws and regulations. The result is that almost all bingo parlours in Georgia are V.F.W.s and service groups, the type of groups which operate a game to pay for their not for profit activities.

Of course, as long as bingo is a large money venture, there will be those who find a way to work around the rules. With twelve thousand or more people employed in the charitable gambling sector of Georgia, the Bingo Unit is certain to be busy in the years to come.
